Washington County - Every 15 Minutes Program

Every 15 minutes someone dies as the result of an alcohol related collision.   The Washington County Sheriff's office helps sponsor this education program in our community.

About The Program

Drinking and Driving is a deadly mix.  The “Every 15 Minutes” Program is a national program designed to dramatically instill among all teenagers the potentially dangerous consequences of drinking alcohol and driving.  “Every 15 Minutes” refers to the fact that a person is killed in an alcohol-related traffic crash every 15 minutes.  The program primarily targets preventing alcohol-related traffic injuries and fatalities, but is also designed to challenge students to think about drinking, personal safety, and the responsibility of making mature decisions when lives are involved. The program has been rotating through Washington County high schools since 2006.

This event is coordinated through the efforts of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington County Injury Prevention Coalition, local fire departments, local hospitals, and other community businesses and sponsors.  The unique two day event includes a mock drunk driving crash with emergency response followed by a school assembly with guest speakers whose lives have been shattered by drinking and driving.

It is our goal to utilize the strengths, talents, and resources from area businesses and community groups to continue to bring this nationally acclaimed program to our county schools.

We are currently asking for your support of the Washington County “Every 15 Minutes” program.  A donation from you will assist us in continuing to providing this invaluable learning opportunity to the students in our community.  All donors and sponsors will be noted on the back of the programs and in the credits on the video.

Checks may be made payable to "Washington Co Sheriff' Office" with "Every 15 minutes" in memo field.  They may be dropped off or mailed to the Washington County Sheriff's Office to the attention of Deputy Mary Woerner.

Please join us in educating our youth against the dangers of drinking and driving.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Community Relations Office, Deputy Mary Woerner at 262-335-4386.
